Experts Share Labor Day Weekend Ideas Based On Your Job
Experts at the Texas A&M University Center for Worker Health offer valuable insight into taking a break by answering a key question: What’s the best way to spend Labor Day based on what you do for a living?
The Center for Worker Health aims to improve the lives of workers through its various services, ensuring a safe and healthy workforce for everyone. Whether you work at a desk or in the field, caring for sick patients or marketing for a company, the Center for Worker Health has provided specific ideas that may help you take a break and recover from your particular work responsibilities.
Labor Day isn’t just a break; it’s a chance to reset and prepare for the remainder of the year at work in whatever way is best for you. However you decide to spend your time off, the experts urge you to keep safety in mind: stay hydrated, protect yourself and family from the sun, and don’t drink and drive.
Executive Order GA-48: Travel Guidance For Employees
Texas Executive Order GA-48 sets new requirements for Texas A&M employees traveling abroad. Personal travel to foreign adversary nations must be reported before departure, followed by a post-travel brief upon return. Professional travel to these nations is prohibited. Employees should review the full guidance and FAQs to ensure compliance.
Silver Taps – Sept. 2
Silver Taps — one of Texas A&M’s most somber and deeply held traditions — will take place in front of the Academic Building on the main campus at 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, honoring five current students who passed away over the summer break. The ceremony occurs on the first Tuesday of each month and provides a time for the Texas A&M community to remember current students who have recently passed away. At 10:15 p.m., chimes from the Albritton Bell Tower begin to play, and at 10:30 p.m., the Ross Volunteer Company marches slowly to the Sul Ross statue. Three volleys are fired, and “Silver Taps” is played by six buglers three times — to the north, west and south.

Aggie Gameday Parking, Shuttles And Road Closures
Gameday has [almost] arrived in Aggieland, and Transportation Services has information available to make seeing the Aggies BTHO The University of Texas at San Antonio on Saturday, Aug. 30, a little easier! Pay upon arrival parking is available in lots near the Bonfire Memorial area, Research Park, Fan Field and along Agronomy Road as well as in Northside Garage. Fans parking in a 12th Man lot must present their digital parking permit upon entry at their lot. Fans are encouraged to download their digital permit and add it to their mobile wallet before arriving on campus.
Accessible parking and shuttle service in Lot 88 has moved to Lot 114 near White Creek Apartments. Accessible parking is still available in the University Center Garage.
Gameday shuttles provide service both on and off campus beginning three hours before kickoff and continuing until one hour after the game ends. The City of Bryan’s Gameday Shuttle* is the only designated park-and-ride option on gamedays. This free shuttle runs from the Roy Kelly Parking Garage in Downtown Bryan to Kyle Field, with service beginning three hours prior to kickoff, continuing throughout the game and ending one hour after the final whistle.
Pre-game road closures begin 4.5 hours before kickoff or at 7:30 a.m., whichever is later. Additional closures occur near the start of the fourth quarter to prepare for post-game traffic patterns. After the game, cut-through traffic from George Bush Drive to Bizzell Street, near the golf course, is not permitted.
Rideshare pickup and drop-off is available in Lot 30e before, during and after the game.
Texas A&M At Work Website Launches
The Texas A&M at Work website has officially launched, giving Texas A&M faculty and staff a new way to access pertinent information. The website currently provides an archive of all past Texas A&M at Work email newsletters, a space for awards and recognition announcements, an easily accessible link to research participation opportunities, a list of helpful resources for university employees and more. The next phase will add a calendar widget for employee-related events and a search function to help support the usability of the public-facing website in finding topic-specific information.
Please note that you will still receive the bi-weekly email newsletters. The website will be available as a supplementary resource that is accessible wherever you have internet access (and even if you do not have access to your work email!) and a location in which faculty- and staff-related announcements can be housed.
